Nowadays, there are a lot of people who are interested in taking up ballet classes westchester ny, both men and women alike. Now despite what many believe, it actually takes a lot of body strength in order to be able to do ballet because of the stunts being performed. Now for those who would want to take up this type of dance, here are some things that one will be learning.

Now the very first thing that one will be learning when taking up this form of dance would be how to properly stretch before each session. Now do take note that it is extremely crucial that one is very flexible because all of the moves that one will be dong would require a lot of flexibility as well as a lot of tensile strength. So the stretching exercises in this type of art would be a little more intense than usual exercises.

Once one has already gained at least some flexibility from the stretching exercises, then the next thing to learn would be the fundamental techniques of ballet. Foot positioning is one of the most important aspects and will be dealt with immediately. Foot position number one is the most basic and just requires one to stand straight with both feet pointing to opposite sides.

Position two is the next thing to learn and is actually very similar to position one but in this one, the two feet are a few inches apart from each other. The position three is done from after position two which involves crossing the two feet. Just imagine doing a crab walk with the feet spread apart and the toes pointing in opposite direction.

Then there is the fourth position where the feet will be coming from the third position but now the toes of both feet would be facing each other. The fifth position would be pretty much the same as the fourth one but one foot will now be in front of the other one. The sixth position is probably the easiest one because it involves standing where the two feet are facing the front.

After learning the foot positions, then the next thing that one will learn would be the plies. Now to do the plies exercise, one will just be doing a number one foot positioning and holding on to the barre which is a big rod attached to the wall. While holding on to the barre, one just has to bend their legs downward and then straighten the legs again.

Another set of exercises that would be helpful to the dancer would be the tendus where one leg will be lifted to the back then swung forward. Take note that this technique will ready the dancer to perform a spin in a performance. Also, it will help the dancer practice balancing on one leg.

So basically these are some of the things one will learn in ballet classes westchester ny. Of course these are only the basic skills that will be learned. Other than these, there will still be many more to learn.
