JoJo Biography

Joanna Noƫlle Blagden Levesque (JoJo) was born on 20 December 1990 in Brattleboro, Vermont, US. She has Native American, Scottish and French ancestry from her parents. She belonged to a low-income family who has just one bedroom apartment. At the age of four, her parents divorces and she was raised by her mother because her father left them. She started learning hymns with mother.

She has been part of many movies and television shows including: Kids Say the Darnedest Things (1998), Maury (1999), Destination Stardom (1999-2000), Developing Sheldon (2002), The Bernie Mac Show (2002), America's Most Talented Kid (2003), American Dreams (2004), Shark Tale (2004), Hope Rock: The Concert with a Cause (2005), Romeo! (2006), Aquamarine (2006), RV (2006), Punk'd (2007), True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet (2008), House of Glam (2010), Hawaii Five-0 (2011) and G.B.F (2013).


In 2004, she has been nominated at the MTV Video Music Award in the category of "Best New Artist with Leave (Get Out)", and at the Billboard Music Awards in the category of "Female New Artist of the Year" and "Mainstream Top 40 Single of the Year with Leave (Get Out).


She has won three awards during her music career till now. She won Boston Music Awards for "National Female of the Year with Too Little Too Late, Hollywood Life 9th Annual Young Hollywood Awards for "Breakthrough Performance" and Yahoo Music Awards for "over 10,000,000 downloads for Too Little Too Late".


On 22 June 2004, she released her self-titled debut studio album under the label of Blackground Records and Da Family Records. Producers collaborated in the development are: Young Freak, The Underdogs, Tre Black, Soulshoch & Karlin, Dexter Simmons, Balewa Muhammad, Alexander Morgan, Vincent Herbert, The Co-Stars, Mike City, Ronald Burrell, Reggie Burrel and Joanna Levesque.


Tracks from the debut album are: Fairy Tales, Yes or No, Sunshine, Keep on Keepin' On, Weak, Never Say Goodbye, Use My Shoulder, Leave (Get Out), City Lights, Homeboy, The Happy Song, Not That Kinda Girl, Baby It's You and Breezy.


On 17 October 2006, she released second studio album "The High Road". Producers collaborated are: Bernard Edwards, Justin Trugman, Timberland, Jermaine Dupri, Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, peter Stengaard, Billy Steinberg, Stargate, Soulshoch & Karlin, Matthew Gerrad, J. R. Rotem, Ryan Leslie, Beau Dozier, Josh Alexanders and Vincent Herbert.


Tracks from the second studio album are: Not to God, How to Touch a Girl, Exceptional, Let It Rain, Coming for You, Good Ol, Like That, Anything, The High Road, Too Little Too Late, The Way You Do Me and This Time.


On 7 September 2010, she released her debut extended play (EP) by Interscope Records. It was produced by The Messengers, Oak, Beau Dozier, State of Emergency, Jordan Gatsby, Neff-U, Kenna and Chad Hugo. Tracks from the EP are: All I Want Is Everything, Boy Without a Heart, In the Dark, What You Like, My Time Is Money, When Does It Go Away, Just a Dream, Why Didn't You Call, Pretty Please, Running on Empty and Can't Take That Away from Me.


On 20 December 2012, she released second EP by Independent Records. It was produced by Boi-1da, Mr. Franks, Scott Bruzenak, Austin Brown, The Backpackkids, Stephen Bruner and State of Emergency. Singles from the EP are: Can't Handle the Truth, St. Patrick's Day Interlude, Andre, LTS Reprise, White Girl in Paris, Thinking Out Loud, Billions, Take the Canyon, Interlude Un, We Get By and Back to Beginning.
