Joan Jett has an extensive record catalog and many hits under her black studded leather belt. No matter what she has recorded in the past, or whatever she comes up with in the future, she will always be known as the girl who sings I Love Rock N' Roll.
This album kicks off with her famous theme song I Love Rock N' Roll. A hand clapper and foot stomper, this song rocks from beginning to end. If you don't sing along to this one, you definitely don't love Rock and Roll.
The angry, yet very upbeat I'm Gonna Run Away follows. This song could be a response to everyone who stood in her way to the top.
Joan Jett's version of Crimson and Clover is absolutely chilling. It is one of her best vocals ever. There are even some echo effects thrown into the mix. What we have here is a cover originally recorded by Tommy James
that she made all her own.
You're Too Possessive is a fast rocker where Joan Jett is simply stating, "Back off." She is definitely independent, and looking back at her career, I doubt this song is about just one person.
Who else could take a traditional Christmas song and make a Rock and Roll hit out of it? Little Drummer Boy was a risky idea, but it works. Any month out of the year, this song will definitely bring out the holiday spirit in all of us.
Louie Louie has been done by many artists. Out of all the versions I have heard, I like Joan Jett's version the best. It has just that touch more kick and punch to it to make it stand out.
One of this album's faster and more aggressive songs is Victim of Circumstance. Where most of the songs on this album have a more pop feel to them, this song is a hard rocker.
Joan Jett and her music have been labeled many things over the years. From rock to hard rock, punk to pop and even trashy, she has made it through all of it by doing her own thing.
I Love Rock N' Roll is filled with good times, laughs, memories and most of all honesty. This album captures the true essence of who classic hard rock artist, Joan Jett truly is. She is not just another rocker, but a rock and roll fan as well. I would recommend this album to anyone who is a Joan Jett fan.
