The Basics Of Guitar Chord Lessons

Are you looking for guitar chord lessons? Read on because I will be sharing some basics with you. If you are totally new to the guitar, I hope that by the end of this article, you will have a better understanding of chords and how you can learn them.
Guitar Chord Lessons - Learn Individual Notes
Before you start learning how to play a chord, it is important that you learn how to play individual notes first. This is because a chord is made up of at least three individual notes. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with your guitar, and then master the finger positions on the guitar neck. Keep practicing until you get each note right! That way, it will be easier for you to progress and move on to the next step.
Guitar Chord Lessons - How Chords Are Made Up
As I mentioned earlier, a chord is made up of at least three individual notes. Generally speaking, the basic guitar chords contain three notes. They are the root note, the third and the fifth of the key. For example, a C Major chord is made up of a C (the root note), E (the third) and a G (the fifth). The notes will be different if it were a C minor chord because the C minor is a scale that is slightly different from the C major scale.
Besides all that, you should also take note that there are different ways to play a chord. These variations are called inversions. Inversions exist to add change the way a song sounds. You will probably learn more about inversions later on once you are more familiar with chords. However, because you are starting out, I do suggest that you keep this at the back of your mind for the time being but do not spend too much time experimenting with inversions yet. The time will come for you to play with them.
Guitar Chord Lessons - Practice Makes Perfect
I hope I am not giving you a cliché by saying that practice makes perfect, but it is true. At the start, I do not encourage that you learn every single chord at once. There is a learning curve involved, so do not cram your mind by making yourself learn all he chords. Take this as a learning journey. Learn the basic chords first and move on once you have mastered them.
I hope by now you have a better understanding of guitar chord lessons. Do remember to have fun while you are learning to play the guitar.
