Established in 1840 in New York City, J & C Fischer Piano Company was one of the largest and most successful piano manufacturing companies of the time. More than 5000 pieces were manufactured at their unit by the turn of the century. During the Great Depression, the company was controlled by Aeolian-American Piano Corporation. Fischer built exceptional pianos between the periods 1840 to 1982.

It was one of the few American companies to survive in the business for over a century and a half. Fischer pianos marketed many models of pianos like the grand piano, studio piano, upright piano, Baby Grand piano, school piano and consoles. The Fischer Baby Grand Piano, however, went on to become their most popular model.

J &C Fischer was founded by brothers John Fischer and Charles Fischer. They came from a very well-known family of instrument makers. Fischer pianos were of superb quality tone and touch. They were celebrated for their beauty and case design.

This musical instrument played primarily with the help of a keyboard. The different parts were assembled together with painstaking precision. Pin-blocks were of hard maple with every pin-block hand-fitted. Best quality chrome plated steel tuning pins ensured that the pins did not rust, slip or twist. Strings were Roslau strings of carbon steel. This is the strongest steel in the world.

The bass wires were hand-wound solid copper allowing for deep, rich bass tones. Keys were of strong and stable wood, exclusively tri-laminated allowing for strength. The soundboards were vertical grain, select mountain-grown laminated spruce. This is of the world's premium amplifying wood. The pedals were solid, cast brass. Highest quality maple bridges with cantilevered bass bridge provided better tone. These pianos could be equipped, if necessary, with computerized player mechanisms.

Regular models of this line of instruments are noteworthy for their simplicity and grace, and their period models are superb examples of the adaptation of the decorative art of past centuries. The company remains an integral part of the country's musical past. The J & C Fischer piano makes for an excellent investment.

Fischer pianos transformed the simple piano from a musical instrument to beautiful works of art through their design and style. All components of it were seamlessly adjusted to perfection. The quality and versatility of these pianos far exceed the grand pianos of recent times. To own an instrument from the stable of Fischer pianos is to have a vintage collection.

Musicians struggle at times to find the best instruments out there for their needs. Even if you are just an amateur piano player the search for a used piano, piano lessons Portland, or a Fischer pianos can be difficult. Searching online for these items can make the process easy and affordable.
