Sammy Hagar - The Essential Red Collection - Classic Hard Rock Review

Out of the many Sammy Hagar album collections, The Essential Red Collection is the most definitive. There is something for everyone here. You will find this album has the classic rockers and the equally powerful slower songs. The songs have been remastered to produce a much richer sound than his earlier recordings.

Sammy Hagar joined forces with Van Halen in 1985 and became an international superstar. He was the lead singer in the 70's band Montrose. After leaving Montrose, he stayed in the music business as a solo artist and has released many albums that have become popular over the years. This is due mainly to the huge fan following he has built throughout his career.

Heavy Metal and Fast Times At Ridgemont High were used as movie soundtracks. The memorable I Can't Drive 55 is one of Sammy Hagar's most popular and most played songs to date. This is basically due to the video airtime it received.

I've Done Everything For You became popular a few years after he recorded it when Rick Springfield covered it. This album also has Bad Motor Scooter which Sammy did during his Montrose days.

Winner Takes It All, Give To Live and Eagles Fly all feature Eddie Van Halen on bass. These are 3 of my favorite songs on this album.

Mas Tequila is a song about Sammy's favorite drink. He actually owns his own brand of Tequila and a restaurant chain.

Thinking of You and Call My Name are previously unreleased 1974 demos. Sammy Hagar has always been known as the Red Rocker, and with a song titled Red you might wonder if this is a self tribute maybe.

I'll Fall In Love Again and There's Only One Way To Rock are from his most successful solo album Standing Hampton.

Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy and Two Sides Of Love were popular radio songs that had great choruses and some fantastic guitar work. The Girl Gets Around was on the Footloose soundtrack.

Sammy Hagar is one of the most dynamic singers in hard rock music. He can sing the highest of highs as well as getting down dirty and deep. The songs Give To Live and Eagles Fly are perfect examples of his vocal power.

The Essential Red Collection is a must have for those looking for a complete overview of Sammy Hagar's songs, rather than buying his entire collection. He is currently the leader and founder of the band Chickenfoot. Whether you liked him in Van Halen, Montrose or on his own, Sammy Hagar is truly a classic hard rock artist.
